Well, since I got the serious thought out of my head with my last post, I suppose my mind felt free to wander, um, freely again.
At any given time, my thoughts would look like a Venn Diagram, except without having any of the thoughts actually relate to each other.
At 3 a.m., with a bad case of insomnia, my thoughts somehow settled upon fruit. So here they are:
#1 - Why is it that, in the U.S., you never see anybody eating a big plate of fried fruit? Sure, we fry it up to put into something else, like a fried pie, but we don't seem to be big on just eating fried fruit alone. That in itself is surprising, because we fry everything else.
#2 - I'm fairly certain most people know that tomatoes are a fruit. (You did, right?) So, why are tomatoes still only included on vegetable trays? For the sake of habit, I'm all for keeping them on the former, but why not include them with the fruit tray too?
#3 - I've been seeing commercials for dog food with fruit in it. WHY? Dogs are carnivores. Likely there's some dogs out there who enjoy the occasional kiwi,
but in general dogs don't want fruit. That would be bears, who remind me of big old dogs. They love fruit. But they are bears, not dogs. Wild dogs don't go around raiding orchards!
Animal food makers are definitely on something. Fruit in dog food and meat in cow food. WHAT THE *$?&*? Anyone remember Bovine spongiform encephalopathy?
Hopefully, the poor dogs won't acquire anything freakishly wrong from fruit in their dog food!
That one was quite long. Sorry, I was on a roll. Thanks for bearing with me. Continuing on:
#4 - I think bananas were trying to be something else. All the other fruits are round in some way, or at least rounded, or have a lot of small round pieces. Except bananas. (If I've left one out that's not say, a cousin of the banana, please tell me what it is, because I can't come up with another!)
#5 - Lemons and limes are like the Yin - Yang of fruit.
#6 - I know I've heard the question but not the answer - is a glass of wine a serving of fruit like a glass of grape juice? If it's not, it should be!
#7 - On the subject of wine, are there any scientists out there who have found the health benefits of white wine? I hear about red wine all the time, but I don't care for it. It's kind of like milk chocolate & dark chocolate. Dark chocolates are the one left in the box. Anyhow, I'm sure there's gotta be one, because it comes from grapes too.
#8 - Persimmons are cool, because their seeds are shaped like tiny knives, forks, & spoons. What's more cool than that is that persimmons were around WAY before knives, forks, or spoons. Somehow, I don't think the inventor(s)(?) of our eating utensils got their design idea from persimmon seeds though, because persimmon seeds forecast winter weather. That would have been a strange, implausible jump.
#9 - It could be just me, but have you ever noticed that fruit flavored candy rarely tastes like the fruit it's supposed to imitate? For example, I am quite fond of both grapes and strawberries, but their candy imitations? Not so much. However, I don't care for watermelon, (though every year since I was a kid I try a bite just in case I changed my mind without knowing it), but watermelon candy is awesome!
#10 - Why is it there aren't any candy confections that taste like cantaloupe, blackberry, or starfruit? They might be good. Or not.
Well, it's now almost 5 a.m. I type slllloowwllyyy. ( I am aware that I am the perfect target for Dragon Naturally Speaking, and plan to get it when I get a laptop with sound, haha.)
Anyhow, thanks for wandering with me! Hope your day is grand, and your hope even grander!
