Companion Greed

I'm the kind of person who sees positivity in most everything.
I see a lot of good in this world, even if there's a lot to
work at.

Too many times though, especially of late, someone close to
me has caused me to think about greed.

Unfortunately.

If a person, whether wealthy or poor, strives to attain
what they desire using only greed as motivation -
then sooner or later, (usually sooner),
the person will find that they attained nothing, but have lost
plenty along the way.

Who would say to their brother in a time of need,
"  If you come to me in need and I can fill it,  I
won't, because instead of just you being in need,
we both will be". ?

I thought it went, "  If you have none, but I have some, I'll share with you and we will both have some."   Or something close to that.

I was under the impression all my life so far that we were supposed to, "  Do unto others..."   You know the verse, I hope.

The person who achieves anything by greed will have, in the
end, achieved nothing.
Their companions along the way, one by one,
will leave them, until one day,
only greed itself will be their friend.
In the end, with no one for it to feed upon,
greed itself will leave them.
Alone.
